Motivation
- Most previous researches on cancer biomarker focused on individual genes related to cancer.
- However, deregulation of pathways causally linked to cancer, not individual genes.
- Pathway level analysis desirable
Goal of this project
- Identify deregulated pathways in each types of cancer via meta-analysis of massive microarray data.
Method & Results
- Analyzed data from 87 microarray datasets consisting of 5,126 samples spanning 25 different types of cancer.
- Identified 212 KEGG pathways, 578 protein families and 1,717 gene ontology terms that are statistically significant (p<0.01), and deregulated in cancer.
